Description:

The Banner Engineering PC44BP6FP Fiber Optic Sensor Module is a compact, PCB-mount fiber-optic sensing amplifier in the PC44 family that accepts 10–30 VDC and provides a single PNP (sourcing) load output plus a PNP alarm output for use with Banner’s plastic fiber optic assemblies. It supports both opposed and diffuse sensing modes with a visible red beam at 680 nm, and the sensing range varies with the attached fiber (FP-style plastic fibers are available for sensing end styles). The unit draws about 25 mA at idle and can drive up to 100 mA per output; when the alarm output is used, the total load on both outputs may not exceed 100 mA. Operation mode for the load is selectable for light- or dark-operate; the device features two top LEDs—green for power on and yellow for output/alarm status (green indicates power, yellow indicates alarm/condition changes with steady or flashing states to reflect gain or fault conditions). Construction is a polypropylene housing with epoxy-encapsulated circuitry, and the module can be soldered directly to a PCB, used with socket pins, or plugged into standard I/O mounting racks. The PC44BP6FP offers a fast 1 ms response time for both on and off transitions, and includes a 100 ms power-up delay to prevent false pulses; it also provides short-circuit protection and very low off-state leakage (<1 µA at 30 V). Operating temperature ranges from -20°C to +55°C with up to 90% relative humidity (non-condensing).
