The Banner Engineering Q459E NAMUR emitter is a rugged rectangle sensor in the Q45 Series designed for intrinsically safe DC sensing in hazardous locations. It provides a 6 m (20 ft) sensing range using an 880 nm infrared beam and operates from 5 to 15 V DC. The unit ships with a 2 m (6.5 ft) cable and delivers a NAMUR-compatible current output; dark state current is ≤1.2 mA and light state current is ≥2.1 mA, which is read by a NAMUR amplifier or safety barrier. Encased in a thermoplastic housing for industrial durability, the Q459E is rated for operation from -40 °C to 70 °C and carries NEMA 6P enclosure protection, making it suitable for washdown, dust, and damp environments in manufacturing and process applications. This model is intended as the emitter in Banner’s NAMUR sensor family; for a version with a 4-pin M12 quick-disconnect and no output, see the Q459EQ variant. The Q45 NAMUR sensors are designed to work with approved safety barriers and current-amplifier modules, enabling intrinsically safe operation in explosion-hazard zones.
