Banner Engineering R55FVW Photoelectric Sensor

The Banner Engineering R55FVW is a fiber-optic color-mark sensor from the R55F series that detects registration marks by measuring color-contrast and luminescence with a glass fiber and a visible white LED. It provides discrete bipolar outputs (NPN/PNP) from a 5‑pin interface and operates on 10–30 V DC, with a standard 2 m (6.5 ft) cable and remote-teach capability to simplify inline alignment. The thermoplastic housing carries IP67 and NEMA 4X ratings for washdown environments, supports operation from -10 to 55 C, and offers a repeatability of 50 µs with a response time as fast as 0.05 ms; sensing distance depends on fiber diameter—about 12 mm with a 0.060" fiber and up to 50 mm with a 0.125" fiber for registration-mark detection. Common applications include registration-mark sensing on color-marked packaging and labeling, where the white LED (450–650 nm) provides reliable contrast against varied backgrounds.
