Banner Engineering SBDL1 Scanner Block
Banner Engineering SBDL1 Scanner Block
Description:
Banner Engineering's MULTI-BEAM SBDL1 Scanner Block is a 3/4-wire diffuse-mode block that serves as the sensing head of Banner's modular MULTI-BEAM system. It delivers a 0.6 m (24 in) sensing range with a 1 ms ON/OFF response and emits infrared light at 940 nm; as a scanner block it houses the detector and modulated amplifier and is designed to pair with a separate power block and logic module to form a complete sensor. In diffuse operation, detection relies on light reflected from the target, and the SBDL1 provides a longer range than the SBD1 but with less response to near-range objects and greater sensitivity to background reflections; the only physical difference from the SBD1 is the upper-cover lens assembly (SBDL1 uses UC-L, SBD1 uses UC-D). Range and output depend on the connected power block, and interconnecting pins support 3/4-wire configurations in modern installations. Note that, per MULTI-BEAM documentation, this device is not intended for personnel protection and lacks the self-checking circuitry required for safety applications.
