Description:

Banner Engineering's SBFV5 Sensor Scanner Block is the glass-fiber optic variant of the MULTI-BEAM modular sensing family, designed to be used only as part of a complete sensor assembly with a separate power block and logic module. As a scanner block, it is paired with a power block and a logic module to form the full three-piece MULTI-BEAM configuration; for example, an assembled model such as F5DN05 is created by combining SBF5 with a PBDN power block and an LM05 logic module. The MULTI-BEAM system offers a broad sensing range—up to 200 meters in the family—and supports the available modes and timing arrangements through the connected power and logic components, enabling setups from straightforward object detection to more complex positioning and alignment tasks. The SBFV5 specifically uses glass-fiber optic links to bring the sensing signal from remote emitters/receivers, making it suitable for installations where the sensing head must be located away from harsh or hard-to-reach environments while maintaining a direct optical connection. Typical applications include precise positioning, edge-guiding, and small-part detection, with the fiber variant allowing flexible placement of optics while preserving Banner’s modular, configurable approach. Because it is a modular block within the three-element architecture (Scanner Block, Power Block, Logic Module), the SBFV5 does not define its own standalone electrical interface or mode; instead, its behavior is defined by the compatible power block and logic module chosen to complete the system.
