Banner Engineering's SM312CV Mini-Beam Photoelectric Sensor is a compact, self-contained DC-powered sensor designed for precise detection of small parts in tight automation spaces. It operates in convergent mode with a 16 mm focal point and uses a visible red beam at 650 nm to create a narrow, well-defined sensing zone ideal for recognizing tiny components on conveyors, packaging equipment, or assembly fixtures. The unit is powered from 10 to 30 V DC and delivers a bipolar output: 1 NPN and 1 PNP, enabling straightforward interfacing to standard PLC inputs without additional electronics. A standard 2 m (6.5 ft) pre-wired cable simplifies installation in confined enclosures, and Banner also offers the SM312CV W/30 variant with a longer 9 m (30 ft) cable for extended reach. As part of the MINI-BEAM family, the SM312CV combines a small form factor with reliable convergent sensing performance, making it suitable for detecting small components or features where space is at a premium on production lines and in compact automation cells.
