The Banner Engineering SM312D Mini-Beam Photo-Electric Sensor is a compact, self-contained diffuse‑mode sensing device designed for reliable object detection in tight spaces. It runs from 10 to 30 V DC and provides bipolar switching with either NPN or PNP outputs, and is available in versions with an integral cable for quick plug‑and‑play installation. In diffuse mode, the sensor detects light contrasts on targets at ranges up to 380 mm (about 15 in), with a status LED signaling when a target is detected; some SM312D configurations also offer adjustable sensitivity via a potentiometer for fine‑tuning the sensing range.
