Banner Engineering SM312D Photoelectric Sensor

The Banner Engineering Mini-Beam SM312D is a compact, self-contained diffuse photoelectric sensor designed for quick, non-contact presence sensing in tight spaces. It detects reflective surfaces up to 380 mm away using an infrared LED source and delivers a single, programmable output suitable for standard PLC inputs. The output can be configured as NPN or PNP and as light-on or dark-on, accommodating common wiring schemes, with a pre-wired 2 m cable for fast installation. Powered by 10–30 V DC, the SM312D is part of Banner’s SM312 Mini-Beam family and includes Banner’s AID alignment system to aid precise targeting during setup. This diffuse-mode device is well-suited for applications such as detecting part presence on conveyors, end-of-travel sensing, and other compact-space sensing tasks where a small, robust sensor is advantageous. Its infrared sensing and compact form factor support reliable operation in confined installations, while the field-adjustable output configuration helps tailor the sensor’s response to varying target colors and surfaces.
