Baumer Electric OHDM 16P5001 S14 Photoelectric Sensor

Baumer Electric OHDM 16P5001/S14 is a diffuse photoelectric sensor with background suppression designed for reliable object detection on conveyors and automation lines. Housed in a compact rectangular body (15.4 mm wide, 50 mm long) of die-cast zinc with a PMMA front, it carries IP67 protection for harsh environments and mounts via a 4-pin M12 connector. It operates from 10–30 V DC, drawing up to 41 mA no-load (typical 29 mA) and delivering a PNP output rated for <200 mA, with short-circuit and reverse-polarity protection. The sensing system uses a pulsed red LED at 660 nm and achieves response times under 1 ms. The Tw sensing distance range is 20–450 mm, and the background-suppressed Tb range is 20–450 mm at Tw max and 5–20 mm at Tw min, with mechanical adjustment over five turns to set the effective range. A yellow status indicator provides at-a-glance feedback, and the operating temperature spans -25 to +65 C. Applications include part detection on packaging lines, presence checks on conveyors, and other automation tasks where background clutter must be ignored to reliably sense the target.
