Bay Networks 5304P Ethernet Host Module 10Base-F

Bay Networks 5304P Ethernet Host Module is a fiber-optic Ethernet interface for Bay Networks' SynOptics Series 5000 hub backplane, providing ten 10BASE-F ports. Each port supports per-port switching to any of 12 backplane segments or three local segments, enabling flexible segmenting and fiber-to-desktop deployment. The module uses ST fiber connectors and supports hot-swap operation with onboard nonvolatile memory that retains configuration during swaps; a bi-color LED annunciator shows segment and port status at a glance. It is designed to collapse wiring closets toward the network center and to deliver fiber connectivity to the desktop, making it a compact, fiber-based extension of the 10BASE-F network in the Series 5000 family.
