Beckhoff Automation EL1809 Digital Input Terminal

Beckhoff EL1809 is a high‑density EtherCAT terminal that provides 16 digital inputs for 24 V DC signals in a single 12‑mm HD module. It acquires binary process signals from the field and transmits them to the controller with galvanic isolation, rated up to 500 V between E‑bus and field voltage, and features a 3 ms input filter for robust noise rejection. Each input channel typically draws 3 mA, while the electronics are powered through the power contacts (L+/M) and the E‑bus side can source typical current of about 100 mA; the power contacts themselves have a typical current consumption of 4 mA plus the load. The EL1809 exposes 16 input bits in the process image and requires no address setting; configuration is performed via Beckhoff TwinCAT System Manager. For wiring, it supports solid conductors (0.08–1.5 mm²) that can be plugged directly, and stranded conductors or ferrules (stranded 0.25–1.5 mm²; ferrule 0.14–0.75 mm²) using spring‑actuated clamps. The module weighs roughly 65 g and is designed specifically for 24 V DC digital input signals as part of Beckhoff’s EL18xx digital input family, delivering compact, high‑density I/O suitable for EtherCAT networks.
