Beckhoff Automation EL6692 EtherCAT Terminal Module
Beckhoff Automation EL6692 EtherCAT Terminal Module
Description:
The Beckhoff EL6692 EtherCAT Terminal Module is a dual-slave bridge terminal in Beckhoff’s EL-series family that enables real-time data exchange between EtherCAT strands operated by different masters, making it a foundational building block for multi-master automation architectures. The unit comprises two EtherCAT slaves in one housing: the primary-side EL6692 on the terminal bus and the secondary-side EL6692-0002 that connects to a second EtherCAT network via a separate network cable, enabling cross-network communication within a single system and facilitating the transfer of process data between masters. Distributed clock synchronization is supported for EL6692 configurations, available with TwinCAT version 2.11 or newer to ensure tightly time-aligned data transfers across bridged networks, which is essential for coordinating servo drives, I/O, and safety-related signals in synchronized applications. Typical use cases include linking two independent EtherCAT networks within a machine or automation cell, enabling coordinated control and data sharing between masters without overhauling the entire I/O topology, and supporting topology changes as the plant evolves.
