Beckhoff EL1018 is an EtherCAT digital input terminal that provides eight independent 24 V DC inputs for fast, deterministic process signaling. Each of its eight channels can be used to read binary signals from devices such as switches, sensors, pushbuttons, or limit switches and then transmit the state to the EtherCAT master, enabling compact expansion of a Beckhoff automation system. The module features a 10 µS input filter to help suppress contact bounce and ensure stable signal interpretation in noisy industrial environments, while LEDs on each channel indicate the active or inactive state for quick local diagnostics. As part of the EL10xx family, the EL1018 maps eight input bits into the process image, facilitating straightforward PLC programming and high-speed I/O handling. This makes it suitable for applications like machine controls, safety interlocks, panel-mounted control stations, and general digital sensing where 24 V DC signals are used.
