Beckhoff Automation IE1001-161-6 Fieldbus Extension Box

The Beckhoff IE1001-161-6 Fieldbus Extension Box is an 8-channel digital input extension for Beckhoff Fieldbus Box systems, designed to bring binary process signals from the field into the Fieldbus Box network. Each of its eight inputs accepts 24 V DC logic signals and provides a fast 3 ms response time for vigilant monitoring of sensors and switches. Integrated into a Fieldbus Box station, the IE1001 communicates with the Coupler Box via the IP-Link optical fiber network at 2 Mbit/s, mapping its binary inputs into the process image for the host controller. The module uses M8 field connectors for compact, robust wiring and is intended to be used alongside other IE1xxx extension modules to expand a Fieldbus Box without changing the main controller, preserving a scalable, modular I/O topology. Within Beckhoff's Fieldbus Box ecosystem, extension boxes like the IE1001 capture digital input data at the edge and feed it into EtherCAT-enabled control systems through the IP-Link backbone, supporting reliable monitoring of machines, conveyors, and safety interlocks in industrial automation.
