Beckhoff Automation KL5001 Sensor Interface Module

Beckhoff KL5001 is a one-channel SSI sensor interface terminal that acts as an SSI master for direct connection of an absolute encoder via the Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI). It powers the encoder from 24 V through its power contacts (20–29 V) and draws about 20 mA from those contacts, while the K-bus supply typically draws about 25 mA and provides 500 V isolation from the signal path. The module's RS-422 differential inputs and outputs support a 24-bit serial width, with a process image of 1 x 32 data bits plus an optional 8-bit status/control field, and data transfer rates adjustable up to 1 MHz (with a 250 kHz preset). Measuring roughly 15 mm (width) × 100 mm × 70 mm (depth) and weighing about 60 g, the KL5001 mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail (EN 60715) and is designed for direct compatibility with SSI encoders.
