Beckhoff CU8800-0010 USB Extended Transmitter Box
Beckhoff CU8800-0010 USB Extended Transmitter Box
Description:
Beckhoff CU8800-0010 USB Extended Transmitter Box is the transmitter half of Beckhoff’s USB extension system, designed to move USB signals beyond the standard 5 m cable limit so a PC can communicate with USB peripherals over a CAT5 link up to 50 m away. It sits between the USB host and the USB extension network, sending USB data from the PC input port to the USB Extender RX box (CU8850 or CU8860). The box mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail via an integrated DIN rail adapter and is powered by the USB connection (no separate power supply required, 5 V DC from the host). It supports USB 1.1 transfer rates, specifically 12 Mbit/s and 1.5 Mbit/s, for compatibility with older USB devices. A standard CAT5 cable is used for the extension, enabling a robust industrial link. Typical applications include connecting Beckhoff CP69xx or CP79xx control panels to a PC or larger automation computer over extended distances, where USB media or control signals must travel farther than a conventional USB cable would allow; the documentation describes configurations that illustrate a CP69xx/CP79xx panel linked through the CU8800 to the host and, in other configurations, to CU8850/CU8860 receivers. In total, depending on topology, the USB path length can reach about 56 meters in one configuration or up to 61 meters in another.
