Beckhoff EL1859 EtherCAT Terminal combines eight digital inputs and eight digital outputs in a single 24 V DC module, enabling compact 8DI/8DO interfacing for automation projects. Each of the eight outputs is a transistor output rated for up to 0.5 A at 24 V DC, suitable for driving relays, indicators, or small actuators, while the eight inputs read 24 V DC signals with the input reference tied to the 0 V DC power contact. The module supports a fast 3 ms I/O update and a nominal input voltage of 24 V DC with a tolerance of -15% to +20%; load types supported include resistive, inductive, and lamp loads. It mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail (EN 60715) and measures about 15 mm wide by 100 mm high by 70 mm deep, with a connected width of roughly 12 mm. The EL1859 is IP20 protected and specified for ambient temperatures from 0 to +55 °C and up to 95% relative humidity (non-condensing). Power for the inputs and outputs is distributed via separate power contacts, making wiring straightforward in EtherCAT networks. This device is part of Beckhoff’s EL18xx family of digital I/O terminals and is designed for use with TwinCAT or other EtherCAT masters.
