Beckhoff EL5101 Incremental Encoder Interface Terminal
Beckhoff EL5101 Incremental Encoder Interface Terminal
Description:
Beckhoff EL5101 EtherCAT Terminal is a 1-channel incremental encoder interface that plugs into an EtherCAT network to deliver high-speed encoder signals to a Beckhoff controller. It accepts incremental encoder inputs on A and B as differential RS422 pairs or TTL single-ended signals, enabling robust operation in electrically noisy environments, and it can be used as a bidirectional counter on channel A with channel B indicating rotation direction. The terminal can power the encoder directly through the connection points, providing encoder supply options of 5 V or 24 V from the module’s terminal interfaces. With a maximum encoder frequency of 1 MHz, the EL5101 is well suited for fast position feedback in precision motion systems, CNC platforms, robotics, and high-speed packaging lines, and it is designed to integrate seamlessly with Beckhoff’s EtherCAT ecosystem and the EL5xxx family alongside other EtherCAT I/O blocks for synchronized, reliable closed-loop control.
