Beckhoff IE5109 Incremental Encoder Interface

Beckhoff IE5109 is a one-channel incremental encoder interface in the Extension Box family, designed to attach a single incremental encoder to a Beckhoff automation setup. Operating from a 5 V DC supply, it provides differential RS422 or TTL inputs for encoder signals, and supports a maximum pulse frequency of 1 MHz, enabling fast position feedback without requiring a separate controller card. The module uses an M23 connector for signal and power connections, suitable for compact panel installations. As part of Beckhoff’s position-measurement ecosystem, IE5109 complements other Beckhoff I/O and motion components by delivering reliable encoder input at the edge of the control system, suitable for integration into small to medium-scale motion or positioning tasks.
