Bihl+Wiedemann BWU2821 Modbus TCP Gateway Module

The BWU2821 is a 2‑ASi Master ASi‑3 gateway with an integrated safety monitor that bridges EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP, letting ASi devices talk to modern control networks while maintaining safety integrity. It powers two ASi networks from a single supply and includes two ASi‑3 Masters for robust fieldbus connectivity. The unit offers 6 digital inputs or 3 × 2‑channel safe inputs (SIL 3, CAT 4), expandable to 62 two‑channel safe inputs in a single configuration and up to 1,922 two‑channel safe inputs in a max configuration; on the output side it provides 6 safe outputs (electronic releases), expandable to 32 safe outputs. A Safe Link plus a dedicated Ethernet/IP + Modbus TCP diagnostic interface enable straightforward configuration, duplicate address recognition, and ASi fault detection, with optional C programming for customization. Designed for IP20 protection, the BWU2821 integrates with existing control architectures to monitor and control ASi devices over standard Ethernet networks while preserving safety monitoring.
