Description:

Blade Network Technologies RackSwitch G8124 is a 24-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch designed for blade‑server and data‑center networks, delivering dense 10G connectivity through 24 SFP+ ports that accept 10GBASE-SR/LR transceivers and can be configured for converged Ethernet needs. It is offered in front-to-back airflow variants (BN‑8124F‑BDL) and rear-to-front airflow variants (BN‑8124R‑BDL), each shipped with rack‑mount ears and dual power cords for redundancy. Running BladeOS, the G8124 is managed via a browser-based interface (BBI) or CLI and supports Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, making it suitable for interconnecting blade enclosures, storage networks, and top‑of‑rack deployments. In addition to standard switching, it includes converged Ethernet features (CEE) that enable FCoE traffic for storage networks and lossless operation, with 10GBASE-SR/LR transceiver options documented for the SFP+ ports. The G8124 line has been positioned by Blade Networks and later IBM System Networking as a high‑density 10G top‑of‑rack solution, with Lenovo referencing G8124E as the corresponding model in its product guides, reflecting the switch’s role in data centers that require scalable, low‑latency 10G connectivity across server blades and attached storage.
