The Brocade M5424 8 Gbit/s Fibre Channel Switch (DL-M5424-0012) is a 24-port SAN I/O blade switch for Dell PowerEdge M1000e blade enclosures, delivering 8 Gbit/s Fibre Channel across eight external autosensing ports and sixteen internal ports. It includes Short Wave SFP optical transceivers and a serial RJ-45 management port for out-of-band access, while in-band FC management is supported through standard tools and protocols. Its compact chassis footprint measures 272.75 mm wide by 32.48 mm high by 307.24 mm deep and weighs about 4.65 lb without media. Specifically designed as the SAN I/O module for the M1000e ecosystem, the M5424 supports Dell’s storage networking fabric requirements and inter-switch fabric operation, with four external ports enabled by default and four additional external ports enabled via optional upgrade to scale the fabric as needed.
