Cabletron Systems ST-500 Ethernet Transceiver

The Cabletron Systems ST-500 Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 Transceiver with LANVIEW is a pluggable interface that lets a host device connect to an Ethernet network while providing built‑in diagnostics through five LANVIEW LEDs to monitor power, heartbeat SQE, transmit activity, receive activity, and collisions. It is available in four configurations—ST-500-00 (body only), ST-500-01 (non-intrusive Ethernet tap), ST-500-02 (N‑Series intrusive Ethernet tap), and ST-500-03 (BNC thin‑net tap)—to support different tap styles and network topologies. The ST-500 is designed for Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 applications and provides a method of connecting to an Ethernet controller via a host‑compatible transceiver cable, aligning with Cabletron’s 90 Series LANVIEW‑enabled transceivers. LANVIEW indicators offer quick fault isolation: PWR confirms power, SQE indicates the heartbeat test, XMT and RCV show network traffic, and CLN flags a collision on the segment.
