Chesterton 1730 Mill Pack is a thermoset fiber mechanical packing for rotating equipment such as pumps, agitators and mixers. This glaze-resistant, abrasion-resistant packing uses soft, pliable, conforming fibers that install quickly and break in easily, delivering reliable leakage control with minimal shaft wear. Rated up to 290°C (550°F) and 28 bar g (400 psi), it supports shaft speeds up to 10 m/s (2000 fpm) and maintains performance across a broad chemical range (pH 1–13). A plant-wide solution, 1730 Mill Pack is suitable for use in agitators, stock pumps, service water, white water and intensifiers, and is particularly advantageous where damaged shaft sleeves are encountered. Chesterton emphasizes its high reliability and reduced maintenance requirements, offering long service life compared with glazing packings while remaining straightforward to handle during routine maintenance.
