Chesterton 200859 5150-ASSEMBLY 8855 Live Loading Disc Spring
Description:
Chesterton 200859 5150-assembly 8855 Live Loading Disc Spring is a cartridge-style live-loading assembly used in valve packing to automatically maintain gland load and extend packing life. The unit combines a stainless steel outer cartridge/guide, belleville disc springs (17/7 stainless steel) stacked in series and/or parallel, and stainless steel inner spring guides with end washers to form a complete packing-support cartridge. When torqued, the disc springs deflect to provide continuous sealing pressure, compensating for packing consolidation, thermal cycling, and shaft movement while storing far more energy than a standard gland bolt arrangement. This capability translates into more consistent leakage control, reduced maintenance, and easier packing installation, especially in inaccessible or motor-operated valves. Chesterton’s 5150 live-loading assemblies are designed to deliver constant pressure with minimal gland force, enabling longer intervals between adjustments and helping to minimize exposure to sealing system leakage. The 5150 family is explicitly marketed for valve live-loading, providing reliable, long-life packing performance across a range of industrial valves and service conditions.
