CIENA NTK553JAE5 is a Wavelength Selective Switch (WSS) circuit pack for the OM6500 Photonics family within Ciena’s 6500 optical transport platform. It implements a 100 GHz grid in the C-Band and is configured as a 2x1 circuit pack with two switch-out ports, enabling selective routing of individual wavelengths to separate paths in ROADM deployments. The unit is specified for operation in the C-band range of 1527 nm to 1566 nm and handles less than 100 mW (20 dBm) of optical power. As part of the OM6500 photonics subsystem, the NTK553JAE5 supports dynamic wavelength routing across DWDM channels, contributing to flexible service provisioning and network resilience in metro and long-haul networks that rely on wavelength-selective switching.
