Cisco Systems WS-X3500-XL Catalyst 3500 Module

GigaStack WS-X3500-XL is a Cisco GigaStack GBIC module that adds stacking connectivity and increases inter-switch density for Catalyst 3500 XL networks when used with modular Catalyst 2900 XL switches. Installed in a GBIC slot on each switch, the WS-X3500-XL works with the included 50 cm GigaStack stacking cable to form a gigabit Ethernet stack between compatible Cisco switches. In half-duplex stacking mode, only one GBIC slot per switch is used, enabling stack formation without occupying multiple ports. LED indicators provide status feedback, and the installation guide notes that the GBIC LED can turn amber if a non-GigaStack cable is used. Developed for Catalyst 3500 XL and modular Catalyst 2900 XL series, the WS-X3500-XL is the GigaStack GBIC that extends inter-switch connectivity within legacy Cisco networks.
