Description:

The Cooper Bussmann BPH500YPV Surge Protection Module is a three-pole replacement unit designed for DIN-rail mounting (35 mm) that slots into PV protection assemblies as part of a modular surge protection stack. It serves as a replacement module for base PV protection systems (Outer, Center, Outer) and complements other BSPH/BPH components to protect inverters and PV combiner boxes from transients. The module supports nominal PV system voltages of 600 V, 1000 V, or 1200 V, with maximum continuous operating voltage (MCOV) of 700 Vdc for 600 V systems, 1170 Vdc for 1000 V systems, and 1200 Vdc for 1200 V systems. It accommodates a maximum system discharge current of 40 kA (8/20 μs) for the 600 V and 1000 V configurations, dropping to 30 kA for the 1200 V variant. Voltage protection levels (Up) at 8/20 μs are <2.5 kV for 600 V, <4.0 kV for 1000 V, and <4.5 kV for 1200 V, with Up at 5 kA of <2.0 kV, <3.5 kV, and <4.0 kV respectively. The unit includes a 30 kA short-circuit interrupting capacity at the applicable DC voltage (1000 Vdc for the 600/1000 V variants, 1200 Vdc for the 1200 V variant) and operates from -40°C to +80°C. Construction features a green (good) / red (replace) status indicator and a UL 94V0 thermoplastic enclosure rated IP20. With three modules per stack, it is intended for PV protection in inverter enclosures and PV combiner boxes and is supported by a five-year warranty.
