Artisan Controls’ 438USA Universal Switch Adjustable Time Capsule is a solid-state Delay-On-Make timer designed to insert in series with a load to provide a controlled ON delay. It accepts 19–288 VAC or DC input (non-polarized) and delivers an output of 10 mA to 1 A inductive, with inrush up to 25 A for 8 ms; once power is applied, the timer remains off until the preset delay expires, then energizes the load for as long as voltage is applied. Timing is set with a 10-position DIP switch between the power terminals, covering a range of 1–1024 seconds. The device is panel-mountable with two terminals for wiring and weighs about 0.2 lb (0.091 kg). Off-state leakage is low (typical 1 mA max at 240 V for standard configurations), and the unit is rated for -20 °C to 85 °C (-4 °F to 185 °F) operation.
