Rota Engineering's BL8 2BD PMF Linear Transducer is an externally mounted, absolute-position sensor for hydraulic cylinders, employing non-contact Hall-effect electronics to deliver piston-position feedback as the rod travels. Designed to attach to the outside of a standard carbon steel cylinder wall, it determines position via a magnet pre-fitted in the piston, enabling accurate measurements without disassembly. An optional 5 VDC powered version provides a 4.5 VDC output, facilitating a straightforward upgrade from resistive transducers to Hall-effect sensing. The BL8-2BD PMF variant is commonly encountered in configurations described as a compact 3/4" diameter with long stroke options, with example lengths around 37" of travel.
