Industrial HPJ-R23 Photoelectric Sensor

The YAMAKATE HPJ-R23 Photoelectric Sensor is a compact industrial, non-contact detector that uses a photoelectric light beam to detect the presence, absence, or precise position of objects, making it suitable for fast-paced conveyor lines and automated production environments where physical contact is undesirable. Operating from 10.8–23.4 VDC, it provides an NPN open-collector output (HPJ-R/HPJ-T variants), uses an infrared LED as the light source, and offers a sensing range up to approximately 1.5 meters (model dependent) with a typical 1 ms response time; the sensing method can be through-beam or limited diffuse depending on the HPJ platform. The unit features a compact industrial housing and supports cable lead or wired terminal connections (variant dependent), enabling installation in space-constrained lines for applications such as conveyor belt monitoring, part counting, packaging machinery, assembly-line detection, robotics stations, and material sorting. For reference, common replacements in similar installations include Omron E3Z series, Autonics BJ/BR series, and Panasonic EX-10 series.
