Industrial SL48 Tape Drive Picker Assembly

Industrial SL48 Tape Drive Picker Assembly is the robotic picker component used in StorageTek/HP SL48 libraries to retrieve LTO-4 Ultrium tapes from storage bins and present them to tape drives. The unit features a rotary actuator that rotates the media picker 180 degrees to pass cartridges between side storage bins and the back storage bins or drive slots, and an extension actuator that extends the picker forward to contact the desired cartridge and then retracts it to remove the cartridge from the bin or drive. It includes an optical scanner that reads bar code labels on cartridges, with seven characters for SDLT and eight characters for Ultrium, enabling automated inventory tracking. Designed for SL48 libraries configured for LTO-4 Ultrium drives, the picker is part of the library's robotics system that enables high-volume tape handling.
