Omron E3S-AD38 Amplifier Built-In Photoelectric Sensor

The Omron E3S-AD38 Amplifier Built-in Photoelectric Sensor is a diffuse reflective, non-contact detector used in industrial automation to sense presence and position on conveyor lines, packaging equipment, assembly stations, and material-handling systems. Its built-in amplifier delivers reliable IR reflection sensing up to 100 mm (wide view), with a power supply range of 10 to 30 VDC and current draw up to 35 mA. The PNP open-collector output handles up to 100 mA, and the unit supports Light-ON and Dark-ON operation with a fast 0.5 ms response time. It features M12 connectivity, reverse polarity and short-circuit protection, and an IP67/NEMA 4X rated enclosure built in ABS housing with stainless steel mounting hardware for panel or bracket mounting. As part of the E3S-A series, it’s commonly used as a replacement for Omron E3S-AD18, E3Z-D62, or E3FA-DP12 sensors in automation retrofits and OEM machinery.
