Panasonic Sunx CX-491-Z Photoelectric Sensor Switch

Panasonic Sunx CX-491-Z is a compact retroreflective photoelectric sensor with built-in amplifier (CX-400 Ver.2) and an M8 connector option (-Z) that provides reliable object detection on tight conveyors, packaging lines, and automated assemblies. Powered by 12–24 V DC with a 10% ripple, it draws less than 20 mA and delivers an NPN open-collector output rated for 100 mA, with the ability to switch in Light-ON or Dark-ON mode; a quick response time ≤1 ms and polarization-filtered sensing help it detect opaque, translucent, and mirrored objects up to 3 m away, while green (power) and orange (output) LEDs indicate status. Physical dimensions vary by variant: the CX-491 base measures 31 × 11.2 × 20 mm, while the -Z/M8 connector version is about 35.5 × 11.2 × 20 mm; the sensor supports an optional polarization mirror ESP-50x60 and is designed to withstand vibration (10–500 Hz, 1.5 mm amplitude, 10 G max) for two hours in X, Y and Z directions, making it suitable for on-line packaging inspection, part-detection on conveyors, and other factory-floor sensing tasks.
