Description:

The Philips MPT7-4 Multiplane Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) transducer is a broadband, multi‑element phased‑array scanhead designed for cardiac imaging from the esophagus. Operating in the 4–7 MHz range, it delivers multiplane imaging by rotating the array to select tomographic planes, enabling detailed views of cardiac chambers and valves with minimal patient repositioning. This MPT7-4 probe is part of Philips’ legacy TEE family and is compatible with older Philips/ATL systems, including the HDI 3000 and HDI 5000 platforms, making it suitable for both intraoperative and diagnostic TEE examinations. The transducer was introduced in 1995; Philips ceased marketing new transducers in 2007, and a later field safety notice notes that service parts for the MPT7-4 are no longer procured, recommending careful inspection and testing if continued in service.
