Raveon Technologies, Inc. RV-M7-UC Wireless Modem
Description:
The RV-M7-UC Wireless Modem is a rugged UHF data modem from Raveon Technologies designed for reliable telemetry and remote data links in harsh environments. Operating in the 450–480 MHz UHF band, it comes in a compact 5.0 x 3.76 x 0.95 inch enclosure and weighs about 6 ounces. It accepts 10–16 V DC input and uses a Phoenix power connector (18-36-18-9; Raveon P/N 1J165-3) for easy field integration, while RF I/O uses a 50-ohm BNC connector. The serial interface supports RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 with baud rates up to 115,200 and handshaking signals such as RTS, CTS, DTR, DSR, and CD. The RV-M7-UC can be configured with GPS via the -GX option, providing a built-in GPS transponder for position data. The model naming convention RV-M7-ab-c-oo encodes the operating band (VHF or UHF), sub-band, channel spacing (blank=12.5 kHz, W=25 kHz), and optional features such as -GX for GPS or -WX for a weatherproof enclosure. An IP65-rated WX waterproof enclosure option is available. In practice, M7 units are used for telemetry, SCADA, and other data-logging or remote-control applications, where a compact radio modem in the 450–480 MHz band is advantageous.
