The Schneider Electric Square D 8501-GD Timer Attachment is a pneumatic timing accessory that mounts on top of a Square D 8501‑type relay to provide a single normally open and a single normally closed timed contact for on‑delay or off‑delay operation. It mounts on 0–4‑pole AC or DC relays (excluding XMO master relays) and uses the same XC1 timing cartridges as the basic relay, offering two timing ranges from 0.2 seconds to 1 minute with repeat accuracy within ±15% of the setting. Installation is quick: lift the relay latches and replace the relay top plate with the timer attachment, and it can be field‑converted between on‑delay and off‑delay by rotating the timing unit.
