Siemens SAMMS Motor Master Unit is a component of the Siemens Advanced Motor Master System (SAMMS), a microprocessor-based, software-configurable motor control and protection relay designed to manage motor starting, stopping and protection in a compact panel-ready package. The device can be programmed with standard or custom ladder diagrams, enabling tailored control circuits that automate startup sequences, interlocks and process logic without discrete relays or timers. In LV configurations, SAMMS provides motor start/stop control plus thermal protection, while the system can track operational metrics such as motor run-time hours, number of starts, motor trips, setpoint alarms and ground fault protection. For system integration and remote coordination, SAMMS can connect to SEABus through an optional CM-1 communication module (RS-485), allowing data exchange with other Siemens devices or higher-level controllers. By consolidating control, protection, and monitoring into a single device, SAMMS reduces wiring and panel complexity compared with traditional relay-and-logic schemes.
