SMAC LAC-1 Single-Axis Servo Motor Actuator Controller

The SMAC LAC-1 is a stand-alone, single-axis servo motor controller/driver with a built‑in amplifier, designed to run from a +11 to +50 VDC supply and to drive a motor rated +12 to +48 VDC. It delivers up to 3 A continuous current (6 A peak) and provides a comprehensive I/O interface: 8 TTL digital inputs/outputs, plus 4 analog inputs at 10-bit resolution (3 of which are user accessible), with optional expansion up to 64 I/O for larger setups. Communication is via RS‑232, including an adjustable baud rate and standard handshaking, and the unit is programmed with mnemonic commands into NVRAM. Operating modes include position, velocity, and torque (force) control, backed by a PID filter, a trapezoidal trajectory generator, and a servo loop rate as fast as 200 microseconds for responsive motion. The LAC-1 supports a 32‑bit position range for precise encoding of motion, and uses encoder feedback to achieve accurate tracking.
