SMAC LAC-1 Single Axis Servo Motor Controller
SMAC LAC-1 Single Axis Servo Motor Controller
Description:
The SMAC LAC-1 is a stand-alone, single-axis servo motor controller with a built-in amplifier that drives DC brush-type motors up to 3 A continuous (6 A peak) at 50 VDC maximum. It provides position, velocity, and torque control via a PID loop, supports trapezoidal trajectory generation, and can operate in standalone mode with onboard nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM) to store command macros. The unit accepts incremental encoder feedback (with index) and supplies a 5 V encoder rail, plus four 10-bit analog inputs (one reserved for monitoring amplifier current), eight HCT TTL digital inputs, eight TTL outputs, and dedicated lines for Limit+, Limit-, Home, and Fault; it communicates over RS-232 with an adjustable baud rate (8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, XON/XOFF handshake) and offers an optional RS-422 interface for expansion modules or extended I/O. Power and compatibility specs include a supply range of +11 to +50 VDC, motor voltage from +12 to +48 VDC, and a PWM drive frequency of approximately 19.531 kHz. Physical dimensions are about 5.0 in (L) × 3.3 in (W) × 1.1 in (H), with a weight near 1 lb. The LAC-1 is listed by SMAC as a discontinued model, part of the company’s legacy single-axis controller lineup.
