Watson McDaniel PTU-12-8 Temperature Pilot Operator
Watson McDaniel PTU-12-8 Temperature Pilot Operator
Description:
Watson McDaniel PTU-12-8 Temperature Pilot Operator is a temperature-control pilot (PT-series) designed to modulate steam flow to a main valve in pilot-operated regulators. It uses a copper sensing bulb connected to an 8‑ft capillary and a union connection, enabling direct mounting to a vessel or pipe. Temperature is set by rotating the control knob; when the sensing bulb detects the target temperature within the 60–120°F range, the internal bellows respond to regulate steam to the main valve and maintain the desired process temperature. This unit is typically used with Watson McDaniel HD regulators, and can be paired with a PP-pressure pilot in dual-control configurations to limit downstream pressure while maintaining target temperature. The PTU-12-8 configuration features a copper bulb with union/NPT connections and an 8‑foot capillary, making it a compact, rugged solution for heating applications in industrial processes, heat exchangers, and steam-powered equipment.
